ECO-GANESHA INITIATIVE

Eco-Friendly Visarjan & Devotee Guidelines

Celebrate Ganesh Utsav with supreme devotion while safeguarding our sacred rivers, lakes, and oceans. Learn how to perform safe immersion in municipal artificial tanks.

Locate Nearest Artificial Tanks
🌿
1. Use Artificial Ponds (कृत्रिम तलाव)

Municipal corporations setup hundreds of clean, chemical-free mobile and steel tanks across neighborhoods. Household clay idols dissolve completely within hours, avoiding water stagnation.

2. Nirmalya Kalash Donation

Remove flowers, durva, garlands, and cloth offerings before entering the water. Deposit them into the dedicated Nirmalya Kalash bins. Civic bodies convert these sacred flowers into organic compost.

3. Never Cross Safety Buoys

Undercurrents at sea beaches (Chowpatty, Juhu) can be treacherous during high tides. Hand over heavy idols to designated BMC or volunteer rescue boats instead of walking deep into sea waves.

4. Zero Thermocol & Plastic

Thermocol mandaps and plastic decorative lights should not be discarded into water bodies. Keep decorative materials at home for reuse in future festivals.

5. Decibel & Traffic Rules

Keep loudspeakers strictly within permissible decibel limits (55 dB) and turn off amplifiers after 10:00 PM per Supreme Court norms. Give immediate passage to ambulances.

6. Medical First-Aid Access

Every major visarjan ghat has a red-cross medical aid post. In case of dehydration, stingray cuts, or minor injuries, consult medical officers stationed on the promenade.
